New Years Eve

Firstly, happy new year to you all. Last year I didn't do a year end review because of all the abrupt events that occured. But this year I decided not to either, although I did have plans on doing so. Anyway, 2006 was a year of rebounce for me, and I hope it was a good year to you too.

May year 2007 bring hope and joy to us all. Again, happy new year!

December 30, 2006

On the second last day of year 2006, I spent my time rather ordinarily. The only thing worth mentioning is that I caught a nice touch-sense bedside lamp on sale. And now I can't stop touching it..

Should I do a year-end review of 2006? Well, let's see if I can whip something out later.

DisneyWorld was quite fun. We had a good time at Animal Kingdom on 24th, though the featured safari tour wasn't as good as we expected. On the 25th, we headed to Magical Kingdom (since it's the main park) but unfortunately it rained most of the day. We didn't even stay for fireworks..

On the day after Christmas, we went to the Prime Outlets in the morning to shop. It's probably the outlet with the most premium brands I've seen so far. There were Burberry, MaxMara, Tod's and even Theory. Well, it's not like I would get anything from these stores, right? Sadly there was no Agnus b.

I'll try to get some photos up when possible. I don't have the 'luxury' of saying "the earthquake ruined my internet", do I?

I can fool the world, but I can't fool my heart.

*************************************

Repeat**

Love is a smoke made with the fumes of sighs;
Being purged, a fire sparkling in lovers' eyes;
Being vexed, a sea nourished with lovers' tears;
What is it else? A madness most discreet,
A choking gall, and a preserving sweet.

Java was okay today.
One thing worth mentioning last night but I didn't was that we played monopoly, here and now edition. It was fun though it took ages to finish the game.

What should I study tmr? Econ? Or math?

December 15, 2006

Java tmr. Fingers crossed!

December 14, 2006

Much of today was spent on economics review. The chapters are unbelievably long, though they are shorter than the ones in java textbook. Anyway, good luck on your exam(s) tmr if you have any. Cya for now.

After doing the java practice exams, I wonder if our professor is tricking us into believing we'll have an easy exam.

Around 8 tonight, the five of us crammed into James' room to watch Saw 2. Urgh. Bloody hell. Don't watch it unless you.......well, just don't watch it, okay?

Two days ago, I asked Joe what motivates him to study. He told me it honors God when he does so, that it justifies all the money spent on his education, and that he likes to know he's learning. It's true for me too, but sometimes I can't help but think that if and only if I do well, I get recognition. People say that don't care about grades but the truth is, who doesn't? No one trains for second. With this in mind, carry on with my/your studies!

December 12, 2006

No matter how much I read or study, I just can't get my mind into the 'real' studying mode. I guess its because I always studied for my exam in the last day back at Taft. Speaking of that, everyone there is flying back home for holiday already..

Anyway, I'll continue to 'read'/'study' tmr. It is never bad since your mind is subconciously processing the information you stare blankly at. Good nite for now.

What a weekend

Things just gone crazy starting Saturday. Part of it was good craziness, while the other was not..

So, after an inefficient design project meeting from noon to 3pm, I left for Towson for some shopping time before the hksa dinner. Well, I got a/another scarf. Dinner at Golden Gate was great as usual, although it did put me in debt (again) and made me wonder why I either don't have my wallet with me or have no money in it when I do have it.

We then returned to Amy's James Gao's place to exchange our secret santa gifts. Guess what! I got a scarf! (Is this a broken gag?) Anyway, everyone enjoyed the exchange and we took a warm and fuzzy group photo next to James' christmas tree.

Anything after the gathering was not worth mentioning. But to briefly recap, I stayed up till 3.30am both nights to finish the project. It was worth it although we didn't get top 3 positions in the end.

Finally, enjoy the first featured christmas tune of x'mas 2006!

December 8, 2006

After working on my design project, I went to our small group's xmas party tonight. People brought alot of food, and as we ate, we watched Elf. The most anticipated part was of course the present exchange time. But unlike a normal present exchange, we put all the (available) presents in a pile and each person pick a gift in order. When a gift is picked and opened, the next person can steal the present and force the person before to steal someelse's or pick a new one. A gift can at most be stealed two times.. Well, being the nice people we all are, not much stealing occured..and in the end I got a Fight Club dvd. That's pretty good, isn't it?

It'll be another busy day tmr..probably spent on my design project, and then of course, the hksa xmas dinner and secret santa gift exchange. Good nite for now.

December 7, 2006

The hot topic of the day is definitely "The grand opening of Chipotle". For those who don't know, Chipotle is a mexican grill restaurant and they're opening a chain store across the street from Charles Commons. They are also giving out free burritos for the day. So undoubtedly, many Hopkins student lined up for it, and so did I.. It was well worth the wait.

I'm starting to write christmas cards in order for them to be sent out by either tmr or monday. Not sure if you'll get one? Then just hope that I didn't forget you..

Well, I really planned to write something this morning, but I was preoccupied with something else.. Forgive me. I may return to that later.

Seems that people enjoy the feature music, so I'm putting another one of Gigi's old but good songs. Btw, do you know that you can search for previously mentioned topics/things/objects/names/you-name-it with the search engine? It is such a useful but under-utilized tool. I importune you to try it. Type something like.."Japan" and see what you get, and have fun.

December 4, 2006

"There is no one older than a high school senior, or anyone younger than a college freshman."
Around 9 tonight, a few of us gathered with a bunch of people near the breezeway to watch the lighting of the quad. It was quite fun despite the cold, since donuts and hot coffee were offered. But sadly, the process was extremely anti-dramatic. We were all counting down from 10 and lights surrounding us were dimmed, and at the moment we shouted "0!", dull and boring lamp-post decoration lights lit up. The administration should have put a gaudy, ostentatious christmas tree in the middle of the quad.

Oh, btw, regarding the visits count, I think I should explain it. The counter is not increased by every single visit. When you visit, it automatically "allocates" 30 mins of reading time. Within that 30 mins, no matter how many times you reload or go to another page, the counter won't increase. So, unless someone is totally obsessed with Login U and come here 5 times throughout the day (not that there's anything wrong with that!), the monthly visit count should be quite accurate..

December 3, 2006

This may be the last free sunday of the fall semester, so I took it easy. After waking up around 11 and eating a light brunch, a bunch of us played badminton (again) for 2 hrs. I also finished most of my java hwk this time, which is better than doing it on monday night (or tuesday morning).

Anyway, I decided to put some pictures I took during thanksgiving. What's better than a video slideshow? See it now (or find it in Galleria).

December 2, 2006   Welcome, December

Yesterday after classes, I had lunch with Vivian at Carma cafe. We had a very interesting conversation..and somehow it converged to competitiveness in the end. This is definitely a topic I'll revisit in the future.

Today is another interesting day. Amy and I had a nice shopping session in Towson mall, where I finally got a gift for Secret Santa. Besides that, we also had a delicious tea-time snack (火鴨雲吞麵, 紅燒牛肉米線 & 魚香肉絲) at 金橋.

At night, we watched Turn Left, Turn Right, which was pretty good. After that, we put up something on the walls of Amy's 'room'. What 'thing'? Well, you need to go and have a look.

Christmas is around the corner. Don't forget to take a step back, sip some coffee and count down to this festive holiday as you study up for finals!

P.S. The monthly visit cut for November is from 13533 - 14044. That's 511 total visits, averaging 17.03 visits per day. Thanks for your support!
